Start of Week 4. Another week of challenge. Second last week to teaching prac finishing.
The Year 9s class was alright; lesson 1. They are working towards to their assignment; finishing off their posters.
Double lesson in Lesson 3 & 4 (after recess), it was the Year 8s. This double lesson, my mentor teacher is away at Year 12 exams monitoring, while i had a relief teacher. I was to finish off helping them with their Movie Review on "Gladiator".
A few hiccups for this lesson.
1) A couple of students finish their assignment during the weekend, hence this double lesson, they have NOTHING to do, as i planned for them to do their assginmnet in class. The problem is, I have no backup to what the couple of students will do in this 110 minutes. I was searching for crosswords or puzzle worksheets in my Year 8 folder, but i have none. I know i have worksheets in my Year 9 folder but it is not with me. So i told my relief teacher that I will just go to my car and get it, so that the students whom have finished their work, can do crosswords puzzle. She recommended me to get them to do find-a-word grid; get them to create their own grid and put in their own words. I think that was a great idea. One thing I realise that I was calm and composed rather than stressing out about the whole thing that I have no backup plan and no work for them to do. So i set them to the task. As after, few students also have finished their assingment, so I got them to do the find-a-word grid as well.
Their behaviour in class are controllable/manageable. ALthough soemtimes the noise level is abit high, they managed to finish their assignmnet up by the end of the lesson & hand it in and get marked on it.
Year 11 IT, lesson 5. One student didn't wanna do any work anymore. I told him several tiems and gave him several chances to edit his last assignment as he was not passing for that assignment. He did not wanna add a little (i stress, really, it is literally ABIT MORE - one more photo + few more words). So he ended up with 47% for that assgn. As you would imagine, I would not give a Fail without telling him/her that he can push it up to at least 50%. But he didn't wanna do anything. So alrights. I gave him D+ (which is like a fail - 47% is not half way yet but very close).
