end of CNY

.

Today is the last day of the 15-day CNY celebration... My family & I are just having a small dinner at home. Actually, i made 'tong yuin' (cantonese) today...red bean 'tong yuin'. It was good but the texture was abit soft. Next time I wanna make green tea tong yuin..Hehe, i'm so looking forward to that.

Tomorrow...brand new Week 2.. *deep breathes*... my program thrusts me straight into it, unlike undergraduate programs, where you can cruise into it gradually as the weeks progresses... Wahaha, who asked me to do postgrad hey? ^.^ Nah, I'm really looking forward to working with kids and although i'm scared of all the high expectations of being a teacher, I'm ready to do my best. I love kids...just like i love dogs.. but since i love dogs but haven't owned a dog yet, i still love dogs. It's the same with love kids; although i haven't worked with kids yet, I still love kids. For some poeple, it's a more secured job than others, some work for the money (not lavish amount but still stable enough income) but i still can't figure out why some teachers/lecturers are teaching... because the way they teach, puts me right off... it is so ineffective that I am not interested in that subject and they dun seem helpful enough. All these stuff that I'm learning now, about "how" to engage and teach effectively and so on, is really what those teachers/lecturers which i've found to be so crap, should re-visit their uni days courses!! Hahaha, anywayz, i'm in no position to criticise their teaching skills or watever, but it's just that I've found how they are teaching in class, I, as a student, would have less likely to engage in learning than if i had a better teacher/lecturer. So these are the kind of things we need to learn because if we don't teach kids properly, it would be detrimental to their learning skills and devleopment. If many teachers are like that, what would become of our educational system??? Kids would less likely to reach tertiary education, let alone Yr 11 & 12. ANYWAYS, back to my track, I have the passion to somewhat help people, becos i find that it is people that motivates me to do further research or PR or watever. If they need me, I will do my best to help them. So in a sense, i have the passion to help kids develop their full potential (or at least be a part in the process of getting them to reach their potentials)... I've heard people saying that seeing kids succeed brings joy & satisfaction to them. I think it would too for me.

Bah, gotta get back to my readings.....psychology teaching~~ hehe, fun. :) interesting ^.^

oh yea, any schools in Adelaide that you like or know? Eg can be that teachers are good, students are well behaved but occasional rowdy bunch... etc? Cos I'm trying to get a feel of what schools there are here in Adelaide & see which schools i would like to work in. I need to start applying by the end of this year saying which school i would like to do my practicum next yr Sem 1.
