new life

.

My last entry in Adelaide.

The feeling of uncertainty. The feeling of new beginning. New life. New job. New place. New friends. New to workforce. New materials, New students. Suddenly things seemed foreign ~ Everyone believes I can cope and handle it, but do I believe in myself? My neighbour gave me a piece of advice: Don't count your successes. If you do the best you can, you will succeed 90% of the time. If you have done your best and failed, well that's the best you can do. Thus most importantly, do the best you can and at least this way, you know you have tried your best. I think I worry alot about whether I can succeed or not, but yea, it's not really about succeeding. It's not about winning or losing. It's about doing the best you can at your job and that would mean there wuld be mistakes along the way, but hey! mistakes is about learning. It's about giving it your best shot and just know that at the end of the day, what you did today is worth it.

I remember this college asking me to choose specifically one keyword to elaborate, from their college mission statement. This was during my phone interview. ONe keyword which really clicked was "lifelong learners". Then when it was my turn expand on the one of the many keywords from their mission statements, I gave this elaborate explanation of what lifelong learning means to me. It's about learning to learn and we don't stop learning at any point in time. Thus even when we are old, we still don't stop learning. We learn something new every day. Thus how i relate it back to lifelong learning and the students, is that I said students must start at a young age to build their blocks. They need a firm and solid foundation early in their life so that they can explore for the rest of their lives the best option / pathway in becoming better citizens, ie pursuing higher education or work employment. No matter what it is, students should be given the opportunity to learn & grow (by this stage, my head was kinda side tracking to other things while explaining this on the phone) so I quickly relate it back to lifelong learners = setting good foundation in school = career.

I am tired now. Need to wake up 5am tmr ~ the big day! lol ~ moving to a new place which I hope to call it my 2nd home for the next couple of years. =)

Bon Voyage! xox
