Reflection

Ok, it's now officially Term 3 is over... one week break & then dive into Term 4.

I should do some reflections before I forget.....

I felt I don't have enough resources to aid me in my lessons. For example, in my teaching pracs, I would be teaching SOSE but alot of my teaching resources come from the SOSE Alive textbooks. Now I am teaching Design and next term I'll be teaching Robotics, thus I need to find resources; actual teaching resources. I am lacking in this area and that is why sometimes i find my classes so dry, because I haven't got enough resources and secondly, i'm not very creative person.

*Laila has been tremendously helpful - eventhough she is not my mentor but my Acting Head of IT, she has been overtly patient and understanding. I was given a mentor but that mentor, really, is like another colleague like any other colleague.

In regards to my professionalism, I think I am doing okay.

In regards to my subject knowledge, I need to play around with the subject (usually it's more of playing with the applications) and then reading the theory of it. Term 3 has been good - with me learning Javascript and Scratch (a beginning application that's designed to help youngsters to get in touch with programming). At times I found it difficult to explain the concepts of Javascript and it's an area that I guess pans out across all programming languages (that is, the theory of it and what's what in the programming language). In Term 4, I need to be learning Flash 8 (no, not the Flash player but the actual Flash programming so that it be played on the Flash player), Robotics and I'll be taking up another subject called PAVE. It's basically values education; something like SOSE but with a more direct focus on values. Bleh... and these will be the Year 7s..... it'll be an interesting term. :)

I am so looking forward to the next holidays (1 week holiday next week is really.... nothing...) I am referring to the Dec/Jan holidays. :) I'll be back to Adl on Dec 13 and hopefully in time for my graduation!! My grad was supposed to be in August but I had to postpone it as I've already accepted my job up here. I am also looking forward to the food and company back there. I really wanna see my boo, so hopefully I can.

Hehe, Mirrors, a horror movie, starts off with a chilling throat slashing by himself, who's possessed by mirrors. Hehe, Conie, i think you should watch this movie.... The movie, Silent Hill, was chilling and feels like in a dream and never being able to escape the dream; your dramatic explanation was much more powerful than the movie itself :P Unlike mine, I think my words here are much less powerful than the movie itself :P
